Per Gematsu and a recap of the latest Weekly Famitsu magazine, new information has been made available regarding Anonymous;Code’s development, upcoming release, and its place in the Science Adventure series.

An interview with Chiyomaru Shikura, CEO of MAGES., was conducted in the weekly magazine. In it, he states that his recent decision to go independent from Dwango and Kadokawa Corporation was made in order to continue development of all of MAGES.’ current titles, and to credit all 5pb. and MAGES. work under the newly unified “MAGES.” branding.

According to Mr. Shikura, a common theme for their future works will be the combination of animation and visual novels. This idea falls in line with the Robotics;Notes series, which utilizes animated character models in place of static sprites in order to convey expressions and actions in a more meaningful manner. This theme also applies to Steins;Gate Elite and Robotics;Notes Elite—the former utilizes animated footage from its anime adaptation in place of the original game’s visuals, whereas the latter included some anime adaptation footage in addition to its regular visual appearance.

Mr. Shikura affirms that Anonymous;Code will not be releasing in 2019. However, he also says that he does not want it to release later than the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo (July 24 – August 9, 2020).

In regards to Anonymous;Code’s relevance to the SciADV series, Mr. Shikura refers to Anonymous;Code as the compilation of the series. Part of its purpose is to resolve some of the series’ unanswered questions, and characters from other titles in the series may also appear.

Finally, Mr. Shikura states that he has ideas for the next three games that he wants to create, but he would like to address them one by one.

We will keep you updated as further information is revealed regarding Anonymous;Code and its release.
