Making the zako burger from Robotics;Notes DaSH

In Festival Phase 2 of Robotics;Notes DaSH, Daru orders several dishes from Akiho’s food stand, one of them being the Zako Burger. Akiho even has a picture of it as her Twipo profile picture, so it must be good. 

In this video, we’ll try to recreate the burger. If you would like to make the burger for yourself, then there is a full recipe below the video.

Ingredients

For the burger patty

  • 120 grams sprat or herring
  • 1-2 tbsp flour
  • 1 egg
  • 30 grams breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper

For the burger

  • 1 burger bun
  • 1-2 tbsp Mayonaise or butter
  • 1 or 2 leafs of lettuce
  • Cheddar or any cheese of your choice
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 whole small sprats or herrings (optional)

STEP BY STEP GUIDE

  1. Mince the fish and form it into a patty. Add tablespoon or two of flour to help it stick together.
  2. Double-bread the patty: first coat it in flour, then dip it in beaten egg, and finish with breadcrumbs. Repeat the process for a second layer of breading.
  3. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying (enough to submerge at least half the patty). Once hot, carefully add the patty.
  4. Cook for a few minutes. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your patty. Remove it once it’s golden brown on all sides.
  5. Toast the burger bun for a few minutes until lightly crispy.
  6. Assemble your burger: cut the bun in half, spread mayonnaise (or any sauce you prefer) on the bottom bun.
  7. Add lettuce, the fish patty, a slice of cheddar (or your preferred cheese), and a slice of tomato.
  8. Optional: Add a few deep-fried sprats on top for extra authenticity. They can be breaded the same way as the burger.
