Ojarimouse! Today, we’re continuing with Daru’s order in the Phase 2 of Robotics;Notes DaSH. His second dish is called ago pasta, or “flying fish pasta.” It’s a simple yet flavorful blend of Japanese and Italian cuisine. In this video, we recreate the recipe — with a few adjustments for those of us who don’t live where fish fly. Full recipe and the step-by-step guide can be found below the video. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 200 g spaghetti
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 2–3 dried red chili peppers (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons fish flakes (bonito or katsubuoshi)
- 2–3 oil pickled sardines
- A few fresh basil leaves
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, keep one cup of the pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over low to medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and chili peppers, cooking gently until fragrant.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan along with the reserved pasta water. Toss well and cook for a few minutes until most of the water evaporates.
- Add the fish flakes and a few basil leaves. Mix gently, then turn off the heat.
- Transfer the pasta to a plate. Place the sardines on top to match the in-game presentation or break them into smaller pieces and mix them in for easier eating.
- Enjoy!
