MAGES. reveals opening movie and new details for Seeker Eye

MAGES. has released the opening movie for Seeker Eye, its upcoming occult suspense adventure developed by members of the Science Adventure Series team. Alongside the new video, the game’s official website has received a substantial update, introducing additional story details, character profiles, gameplay information, and details about the various editions.

The opening movie features the theme song “REDRUM”, performed by Kanako Ito, who is well known for her contributions to the Science Adventure Series. The song was written by Katsuo Kawazumi and composed and arranged by Toshimichi Isoe.

The updated website provides a more detailed look at the story behind Seeker Eye. The game follows Shigeaki Nogawa, an editor working for the occult magazine Chojo Idola. One day, he comes across a ghost story titled “The House with the Red Roof,” which initially appears to be an ordinary tale about two children exploring an abandoned house.

However, the story takes an unexpected turn when a young woman approaches Nogawa and claims to be one of the people who appeared in the ghost story. As Nogawa investigates the mysterious circumstances surrounding the tale, he becomes involved in a series of disturbing incidents. What initially seemed like fiction gradually begins to overlap with reality, raising the question of whether the ghost story is actually true.

The website also provides a closer look at the game’s two main gameplay modes.

In Observation Mode, players follow the perspective of protagonist Shigeaki Nogawa as he investigates the mystery. By choosing which subjects interest the magazine editor, players can uncover different pieces of information and gradually piece together the truth.

The second mode, Seeker Eye Mode, becomes available when the story reaches the late-night hours. During these sections, players take on the perspective of a supernatural entity, allowing them to observe the private lives of people connected to the Red Roof House.

These observations can reveal important clues about the ongoing investigation, but they can also expose the characters’ hidden secrets and personal struggles. By switching between the perspective of the investigator and that of the supernatural entity, players will have to uncover the truth behind the cursed ghost story. The game will also feature additional ghost stories throughout its narrative, offering players more supernatural tales alongside the central mystery.

The updated character section introduces five characters involved in the story, alongside their respective voice actors.

  • Shigeaki Nogawa (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) – The protagonist and editor of the occult magazine Chojo Idola. A 37-year-old man who considers work his hobby and cigarettes his friends, Nogawa is somewhat cynical and frequently complains about his work. Despite his generally neutral attitude towards the occult, his involvement with the Red Roof House changes his world completely.
  • Mei Miyoshi (CV: Azusa Aoi) – A 23-year-old rookie editor at Chojo Idola and Nogawa’s assistant. Despite being afraid of ghosts and generally cautious around supernatural subjects, she somehow ended up working for an occult magazine. Her outgoing personality and communication skills occasionally prove useful to Nogawa.
  • Akane Orihara (CV: Rikako Aida) – A 20-year-old woman who claims to be A-chan, the girl from the Red Roof House ghost story. Kind and thoughtful, but also strong-willed, she is searching for S-san, the original storyteller.
  • Shinichi Matsunaga – Akane’s childhood friend and the person known as S-san in the ghost story. The 20-year-old has not been in contact with Akane since elementary school.
  • Taizan Ichinomiya (CV: Ryotaro Okiayu) – Nogawa’s former university junior, a large man born into a temple family who now works as an exorcist. Although his appearance and playful Kansai dialect might make him seem suspicious, he is highly respected in his field. Nogawa eventually finds himself relying on his abilities.
  • Kei Matoba (CV: Mariko Honda) – A 33-year-old detective working for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. She is an old acquaintance of Nogawa, known for her cool personality and strong sense of justice. Her dislike of occult matters frequently puts her at odds with him.

MAGES. has also confirmed the game’s release date and provided additional information about its available editions.
