Modern Chaos;Head NoAH ports planned for February 2022; Anonymous;Code officially delayed to next year

A recent interview with Makoto Asada, director of MAGES.’ Division 8, has brought with it some news regarding the future of the Science Adventure series; importantly, modern ports of Chaos;Head NoAH have seemingly been confirmed for release in February 2022, and Anonymous;Code has been officially delayed to next year as well.

We have translated and/or summarized relevant sections of the interview for reader convenience below.

On Anonymous;Code

  • Asada: “Since we are very particular about Shikura’s work, we are in the process of polishing up the story and improving its overall quality. The release date, as well as further details about the game, will be announced by Shikura [at a later date.]”
    • Asada: “The original plan was to release it in Fall 2021, but it’s already fall… The game will be releasing in 2022, but we are still preparing an official announcement for this.
  • When asked by the interviewer why he thinks development of the game has taken so long, despite the fact that the game was first announced in 2015, Asada says, “We’ve gone through a lot of trial and error due to our commitment to the Science Adventure series. And with those delays, Anonymous;Code has been given the time it needs to become a very good story! We won’t keep you waiting for much longer, so please stay tuned for future announcements.”
  • Asada: “Shikura has put a significant amount of effort into Anonymous;Code, and he’s been very particular about how exactly he wants it to be presented. For this reason, I believe it will be a very new type of adventure. I’m sure Shikura will be providing a proper explanation about it soon—complete with a smug look on his face—so please look forward to that, haha.”

On Chaos;Head NoAH and Chaos;Child

  • The interviewer asks if there are any other developments in the SciADV series that Asada can share, to which he responds, “Chaos;Head NoAH, as well as its sequel, Chaos;Child have not been available on current consoles, but that will be changing with a double pack we plan to release.”
    • Asada: “Chaos;Child is still playable on the PlayStation 4, but Chaos;Head NoAH requires you to get your hands on a PlayStation Vita in order to play it. Chaos;Child is also available on Steam, but Chaos;Head NoAH is not, so even if someone wanted to play it, they wouldn’t be able to.”
    • Asada: “There are a lot of people out there who want to play Chaos;Head NoAH—new and returning players alike. So, we’ve decided to port it to modern hardware; the game is scheduled to release in February of next year!”
  • Asada notes that Shikura has other projects planned, but they will be announced when MAGES. has something to announce.
  • Interviewer: “Will new story or other additional elements be added in this port?”
    • Asada: “We are currently discussing what exactly we plan to do, but in order to release the game at a reasonable price, we will likely be porting the game without any modifications or additional content. As soon as we’ve come to a decision, we will make an announcement, so please look forward to that as well.”

Notably, the Anonymous;Code website has also been updated to reflect the new estimated release year of 2022.

As noted by Twitter user TehVict, Anonymous;Code’s logo subtext has also seen an update: it now reads in more natural English, as opposed to its previous machine-translated state. While it is likely too early to delve into speculation, it should be noted that the subtext in Robotics;Notes’ logo was similarly updated for its English localization.

We’ll keep you updated as further information arises on this and any other Science Adventure-related news.
