MAGES. has officially announced the release date for Steins;Gate Re:boot alongside a brand-new opening movie and a showcase of the game’s character animations. The game will launch in Japan on August 20, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and the original, and PC.
Originally announced during the series’ 15th anniversary celebrations, Steins;Gate Re:boot is a full remake of the 2009 visual novel, featuring completely redrawn visuals, updated event CGs supervised by original artist huke, enhanced depictions of Akihabara, and additional story content not present in the original release.
MAGES. also published a new e-mote demonstration video, showcasing 2.5D characters. The footage shows characters with smoother idle animations, blinking, lip movement, and subtle body motion.
Several editions of the game are planned in Japan, including Limited and Ultra Limited Editions featuring soundtrack collections, art books, live concert footage, and exclusive illustrations by huke.
