MAGES. has announced that the upcoming remake of the Steins;Gate visual novel, Steins;Gate RE:BOOT, has been delayed to 2026. The company has also unveiled new details for the game, which they say is being “rebooted” with newly updated graphics and other elements, including entirely new story content.
According to the announcement, the game’s CG have been recreated from the original storyboards to more strongly reflect key narrative moments. The character art has also been updated by huke, the original designer.
The game’s backgrounds are being recreated using period materials in order to portray Akihabara as it appeared in 2010, drawn in such detail that they could be mistaken for real photographs. New locations, such as Manseibashi Bridge and the coin laundromat next to the lab, have also been previewed; they will be used to better express the world of Steins;Gate. Check out the other art revealed through this press release from MAGES.
More information will be revealed at WePlay Expo 2025, taking place in Shanghai between November 22–23. MAGES. has confirmed the game will be presented by Spike Chunsoft at the expo, which represents the possibility of an announcement of Chinese- and English-language localizations.
As always, we will keep you updated on all upcoming Steins;Gate news.
