Famitsu presented the first live gameplay demonstration of Steins;Gate RE:BOOT during the Famitsu 40th Anniversary LIVE broadcast on June 21, giving fans their first extended look at the game through a live gameplay showcase.
According to the presenters, the broadcast marked the first time Steins;Gate RE:BOOT has been played live on stream using actual hardware. While gameplay footage had previously appeared in promotional materials, this was the first live gameplay presentation of the upcoming title.
The approximately 20-minute demonstration was played on Nintendo Switch 2 and covered the opening portion of the game, including Okabe Rintaro’s arrival at Radio Kaikan, his encounters with Mayuri Shiina and Kurisu Makise, as well as several scenes leading up to the story’s iconic opening events.

During the introduction segment, the presenters summarized several of the project’s previously announced enhancements. Steins;Gate RE:BOOT is based on the Steins;Gate ELITE scenario, features fully re-recorded voice performances, remade music tracks, redrawn event CGs and backgrounds, and introduces a brand-new story route.
One particularly interesting discussion during the broadcast focused on the game’s newly announced Gamma Worldline route. While no new footage from the route was shown, the presenters briefly explained that it takes place in a worldline where Okabe never becomes Hououin Kyouma. As a result, many of the inventions and events familiar from the original story do not occur, creating what was described as a considerably harsher worldline than those seen previously.
The presenters also commented on the newly recorded voice performances, noting that while the original cast performances were already highly regarded, years of anime adaptations, sequels, and spin-offs have allowed the actors to further refine their interpretations of the characters. Developed by MAGES., Steins;Gate RE:BOOT is scheduled for release on August 20, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
